Privacy Policy for UploadMe Right Click Uploader

Effective date: 21 June 2026

UploadMe Right Click Uploader is a Chrome extension that allows users to upload images to UploadMe or a compatible configured upload host directly from the browser.

This Privacy Policy explains what the extension does, what data it accesses, what data it stores, and how that data is used.

1. Who we are

UploadMe Right Click Uploader is provided by UploadMe.

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, you can contact us through UploadMe support or through the contact methods published on https://uploadme.me.

2. What the extension does

The extension allows you to:

  • right-click an image on a webpage and upload it
  • detect an image from the current webpage when the popup is opened
  • optionally add a title, description, and tags before upload
  • save recent upload links locally
  • optionally use a personal UploadMe API token
  • optionally use premium features such as a custom upload host and license verification

3. Information the extension accesses

The extension may access the following information:

  • image URLs from webpages when you right-click an image or open the popup
  • image content needed to upload the image you selected
  • optional upload metadata you enter, such as title, description, and tags
  • your API token, if you choose to enter one
  • your license key, if you choose to verify or manage premium features
  • your configured upload host, if you use premium custom host support
  • recent upload links generated after successful uploads

The extension does not read your emails, passwords, payment details, or unrelated form content from webpages.

4. Information stored by the extension

The extension stores certain settings and usage data in Chrome storage.

Stored in Chrome sync storage

This may include:

  • your personal API token
  • whether guest token mode is enabled
  • your selected upload host
  • theme preference
  • premium/license state
  • license information such as license key, start date, and expiry date

Because this data is stored using Chrome sync storage, it may be synced by Google across browsers signed into the same Chrome profile, subject to your Chrome account settings.

Stored in Chrome local storage

This may include:

  • recent upload links
  • the last right-clicked image URL
  • whether the options page has already been opened after installation

5. How information is used

The extension uses data only to provide its features, including:

  • identifying the image you selected for upload
  • uploading that image to UploadMe or your configured upload host
  • attaching optional title, description, and tags
  • opening the uploaded image link after a successful upload
  • saving your preferences
  • showing recent uploads
  • verifying premium license information
  • opening checkout or licensing pages when you choose to use premium-related features

6. When data is sent over the network

The extension sends data only when required for the feature you use.

Upload requests

When you upload an image, the extension may send:

  • the selected image or fetched image binary
  • your API token or guest token
  • optional title, description, and tags
  • the target upload endpoint URL

This is sent to:

  • https://uploadme.me/api/1/upload, or
  • a custom upload host you configured through premium features

Premium and licensing requests

If you use premium-related features, the extension may send data such as:

  • your entered license key
  • requests to verify license status
  • requests to open checkout/session URLs

These requests may be sent to:

7. What the extension does not do

The extension does not:

  • sell your personal data
  • use hidden analytics or advertising trackers inside the extension
  • collect browsing history for marketing purposes
  • upload images automatically without a user action
  • read webpage content unrelated to selecting an image for upload

8. Chrome permissions and why they are used

The extension currently uses the following permissions:

  • contextMenus
Used to add the right-click upload option for images.
  • storage
Used to save settings, API token preference, recent uploads, theme selection, and premium/license settings.
  • notifications
Used to show upload success or failure notifications.
  • host access to webpage URLs
Used so the extension can detect images on webpages and fetch the selected image for upload when you choose to use the extension.

9. Data retention

Data stored in Chrome storage remains there until:

  • you remove it through the extension
  • you clear browser extension storage
  • you uninstall the extension
  • Chrome sync removes or overwrites synced data according to your Chrome settings

Data sent to UploadMe or a configured upload host is governed by that service’s own storage, retention, moderation, and privacy rules.

10. Security

The extension stores settings using Chrome’s extension storage system. However, no software or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You should only use the extension on devices and browser profiles you trust.

11. Third-party services

Depending on the feature you use, the extension may interact with:

  • UploadMe
  • a custom compatible upload host configured by you
  • Chrome Web Store pages
  • premium licensing and checkout services operated under the UploadMe domain or subdomains

Those services may have their own privacy policies and terms.

12. Children’s privacy

The extension is not intended for children under the age required by applicable law to use the related services independently.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version becomes effective when published.

14. Contact

For questions, support, or privacy-related requests, please contact us through UploadMe support or the contact information published at https://uploadme.me.
